Our Location
The Royal Sportsman Hotel is conveniently located in the centre of Porthmadog, on the town’s High Street at the junction of the A487 and A497. Our central location makes us easy to reach whether you are travelling by car, train, or bus, and provides the perfect base for exploring Snowdonia National Park and the Llŷn Peninsula.
Arriving by Car
Porthmadog is well connected by road and is easily accessible from across North Wales and the UK.
From North Wales (Bangor / Caernarfon):
Follow the A487 south towards Porthmadog.
From South Wales:
Travel north on the A470, then join the A487 to Porthmadog.
From the Midlands and England:
Take the M6 towards the North West, then follow routes via Chester and the A55, continuing along the A487 towards Porthmadog.
The hotel is located on Porthmadog High Street, just a short distance from the harbour and town centre amenities.
Arriving by Train
Porthmadog is served by the Cambrian Coast railway line, with regular services connecting the town to destinations including Pwllheli, Aberystwyth, and Machynlleth.
Porthmadog railway station is only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, making it a convenient option for guests travelling by rail.
Visitors can also enjoy the nearby Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland heritage railways, offering scenic journeys through Snowdonia.
